چکیده

A number of recent papers have studied the finite temperature properties of ferromagnetic quantum spin chains. At low temperatures, macroscopic observables can be fully described by two dimensionful parameters which characterize the ground state. A convenient choice for these is the ground-state magnetization density M 0 , and the ground-state spin stiffness rs . Then the macroscopic properties of a quantum spin chain of length L , in the presence of an external magnetic field H , and at a temperature T are fully universal functions of the dimensionless ratios that can be formed out of these parameters. A convenient choice for these ratios is ~recall that in d51 rs , has dimensions of energy 3 length!

High order perturbation study of the frustrated quantum Ising chain

In this paper, using high order perturbative series expansion method, the critical exponents of the order parameter and susceptibility in transition from ferromagnetic to disordered phases for 1D quantum Ising model in transverse field, with ferromagnetic nearest neighbor and anti-ferromagnetic next to nearest neighbor interactions, are calculated. It is found that for small value of the frustr...

Low temperature thermodynamics of inverse square spin models in one dimension

We present a field-theoretic renormalization group calculation in two loop order for classical O(N)-models with an inverse square interaction in the vicinity of their lower critical dimensionality one. The magnetic susceptibility at low temperatures is shown to diverge like T−a exp(b/T ) with a = (N−2)/(N−1) and b = 2π/(N − 1). From a comparison with the exactly solvable Haldane-Shastry model w...

Low Energy Properties of the Random Spin-1/2 Ferromagnetic-Antiferromagnetic Heisenberg Chain

The low energy properties of the spin-1/2 random Heisenberg chain with ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions are studied by means of the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) and real space renormalization group (RSRG) method for finite chains. The results of the two methods are consistent with each other. The deviation of the gap distribution from that of the random singlet ph...

Thermal effects on quantum communication through spin chains

We study the effect of thermal fluctuations in a recently proposed protocol for transmission of unknown quantum states through quantum spin chains. We develop a low temperature expansion for general spin chains. We then apply this formalism to study exactly thermal effects on short spin chains of four spins. We show that optimal times for extraction of output states are almost independent of th...

Interfaces and droplets in quantum lattice models

This paper is a short review of recent results on interface states in the Falicov-Kimball model and the ferromagnetic XXZ Heisenberg model. More specifically, we discuss the following topics: 1) The existence of interfaces in quantum lattice models that can be considered as perturbations of classical models. 2) The rigidity of the 111 interface in the three-dimensional FalicovKimball model at s...
